LD:NorthEast are delighted to invite parents / carers of children and young people with disabilities (0-25 years) to the launch event of the new North Tyneside Parent Carer Forum. Hosted by LD:NorthEast and ran directly by parents and carers, the forum aims to engage with as many parents / carers as possible, keeping people informed about what’s going on and giving them the opportunity to have their say and influence how children, young people and families are supported. The event takes place at Wallsend Town Hall Chambers on Tuesday 31st January, 9:45am until 2pm, lunch included.

The event aims to inform people about the new forum, listen to an example of how another similar forum operates in a neighbouring area, find out from the local authority about how it can work with parents / carers, as well as find out from people about what their own priorities / issues are.  An agenda for the event is set out as follows:

10:30 – 11:15    National and Regional Parent Carer Forums – Maureen Morris Co- Chair and Steering Group member for the North East & Cumbria National Network of Parent Carer Forums (NNPCF) Chair: Sunderland, Washington and Coalfields Parent Carer Council

11:15 – 11:30     Break

11:30- 12:00     Kath Robinson, Principle Manager Disability and Additional Needs and John Thompson, Inclusion Learning Support Manager at North Tyneside Council – the local perspective

12:00 – 12:45     Lunch

12:45 – 13:45     Round table discussions (facilitator led, covering a range of topics)

13:45 – 14:00     Feedback, summary and close
