BBC Children in Need Early Years Project

‘Early School Years Play Education and Social Interaction Play’

We are delighted to announce that once again BBC Children in Need will be supporting our work with families of young children with disabilities in North Tyneside.  LD:NorthEast’s Early Years Project has been awarded a grant to cover the costs of the project over the next three years.

The project supports preschool children with complex learning / physical disabilities to learn and develop through play. This includes working with families, supporting them when engaging with health and care professionals, providing group and one to one support as well as putting families together, helping them to support each other.

Support offered is tailored to individual needs, currently including:

  • Weekday playgroups
  • Sign and sing sessions
  • Support to attend Community Paediatrician Clinics
  • School holiday activities, including other family members
  • Support to attend specialist groups such as Music and Movement
  • Parent / carer support
  • Peer support and volunteering
