BBC Children in Need Early Years Play
‘Early School Years Play Education and Social Interaction’ Play
We are delighted to announce that our successful 3-year early years project, funded by BBC Children In Need, will now be bigger and better than before. Funding has been secured which will mean the project will continue at least until 2018, supporting more children and families across North Tyneside.
The project supports preschool children with complex learning / physical disabilities to learn and develop through play. This includes working with families, supporting them when engaging with health and care professionals, providing group and one to one support as well as putting families together, helping them to support each other.
Support offered is tailored to individual needs, currently including:
- Weekday playgroups
- Sign and sing sessions
- Support to attend Community Paediatrician Clinics
- School holiday activities, including other family members
- Support to attend specialist groups such as Music and Movement
- Parent / carer support
- Peer support and volunteering
