Support Worker x 2 posts – Full time, flexible hours

£9 per hour

We are growing! It’s a really great time to be joining LD:NorthEast. Demand for support continues to grow and we need a reliable, energetic and values driven support team who really care about the work they do. You could make a real difference.

Working in small groups and on a one to one basis, we will rely on you to help make sure that people with learning disabilities have the same rights, opportunities and quality of life as everyone else. If you have the drive, determination and commitment to make this happen, this could be the job for you.

These are demanding and at times, challenging jobs and we need people who are up to the challenge. Making such a positive difference to people’s lives and watching them develop can also be very rewarding.

Various shifts will be required, including some evenings / weekends, as well as occasional short breaks with small groups and / or one to one. You will need to be flexible in a fast moving environment. No two days will be the same. We pride ourselves in the flexible support we provide for people. We expect the same from you so that we can continue to make a positive difference for the many people who rely on our support.

If you have a level 2 qualification in Care, or something similar, great. If not, you will be given appropriate training. Most importantly, we need you to want to work with people who need a little support in order to lead fulfilling lives and we will want you to demonstrate this in your application.

If you already have experience of working with children and / or adults with learning disabilities / other needs then that’s also great, we really want to hear from you. Some people forget about experience they have with family / friends and the skills they have developed as a result. Having a driving licence would also be a distinct advantage.

Our office is based in Wallsend and you will work as part of our Personalised Support team, supporting people with learning disabilities and other needs across the North of Tyne area.

If you feel you have the commitment, enthusiasm and energy to join our team and have a real impact, we want to hear from you. You won’t regret it. These are new posts and there are some great development opportunities in the future for the right people. We welcome applications from people starting out in their careers, people returning to work from caring responsibilities as well as people taking a new career direction. We have some great examples within our team where people have developed their careers. We recently had a very positive staff survey and we are continuously looking to improve terms and conditions having recently adopted the real living wage for all of our support team.
